Pasadena residents Sheryl and Ed Peters were recently honored at a champagne reception at Pasadena Museum of History, for their underwriting of the interpretation and transformation of the Servant’s Room in historic Fenyes Mansion. Thanks to the Peters’ time, talent and generosity, visitors will see a servant’s living space for the first time and hear the stories of housekeeper Agnes Quetu and other servants who worked tirelessly to keep the Fenyes household running.
“Since the 2012 renovation of Fenyes Mansion with the generous funding and continual support of the Paloheimo Trust, the Peters’ gift is the most instrumental contribution to the interpretation of the Mansion,” noted PMH President John Baatz as he invited guests to raise a glass to toast the couple.
In addition, Sheryl Peters, a PMH volunteer since 2008, spent countless hours researching the lives of the Fenyes staff, meticulously curating the space, and developing a living history portrayal of Agnes Quetu, which she presented to the gathering before the reception.
Docent-guided tours of 1906 Fenyes Mansion are offered at 12:15 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets are $15, and include a visit to the Finnish Folk Art Museum and entrance to the Exhibition Galleries. Advance reservations are recommended, as limited space is available for each tour.
