The Pasadena Arts League recently held its annual meeting at the home of Richard and Susan Feinberg in Pasadena. Attending the Garden Party event were Pasadena Arts League members and their grant awardees. Money for the grants was raised from member’s dues and from yearly art activities of the group. This year, nine area arts organizations were awarded grants. B.J. Ledyard, PAL grant chair, announced the winners and distributed checks to the following organizations:
Armory Center for the Arts: art, theater and drama lessons for its Art’s Community Pathways Initiative
Light Bringer Project: an art program for school-age children in the Pasadena called “Room 13”
Harmony Project: music to engage children from under-resourced communities. Children receive four to 10 hours a week of music instruction.
Los Angeles Children’s Chorus: for financial assistance to underserved children so they can participate in the L.A. Children Chorus
Pasadena Museum of California Art: to support the educational programs for upcoming exhibits
Pasadena Museum of History: for the masterpieces program, which helps to fund Fenyes Mansion Tours for elementary students
Pasadena Conservatory of Music: for financial aid for its outreach programs
Surrogate Gallery Projects: to showcase under-represented artists in pop-up galleries in empty spaces
Young Musicians: for bringing music to grades 6 to 8 at Elliot Middle School
In addition to providing grants to San Gabriel Valley arts organizations, PAL also plans art-related activities for its members. These often include exclusive tours of artist studios, galleries, museums and private art collections in Southern California plus musical and theater events.
The Pasadena Arts League welcomes new members year-round. For more information visit pasadenaartsleague.org or email: info@pasadenaartsleague.org.
