Daniel Asher Smith Fausett died Friday, Aug. 30, in Vang Vieng, Laos, from complications following a hiking accident. He was 20 years old. Asher was a junior at the University of Chicago studying economics, with an interest in South Asian history. He graduated in 2017 from La Cañada High School, where he was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team and was president of the Engineering Club.
Asher is survived by his father, Bret A.S. Fausett; his mother, Hilary Jane Fausett; and sisters Ellie and Claire Fausett. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
A funeral will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Cemetery on Forest Lawn Drive, Hollywood. A reception will follow.
