Celebrating 90 years of service, Pacific Clinics, a leading nonprofit agency providing comprehensive behavioral health and support services throughout Southern California, has announced that Ellen Leyva, ABC-7 Eyewitness News anchor, will emcee its annual Fiesta Brunch fundraising event.
The Fiesta Brunch, Pacific Clinics’ signature fundraiser, assists children, adults and families living with severe mental illness. This year’s Fiesta Brunch will be held on Sunday, May 21, at the Brookside Golf Club at the Rose Bowl starting at 11 a.m. Funds raised will assist Pacific Clinics in providing mental health services, substance abuse treatment, vocational and employment assistance, supportive housing services, and Head Start and Early Head Start programs to more than 24,000 children each year.
Leyva grew up in Tucson, Arizona, in a bilingual household. She spent much of her time in Mexico with her mother’s family, and says being bilingual and bicultural has helped her tremendously on the job in Los Angeles’ large Hispanic community. She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism and was inducted into the Walter Cronkite School of Broadcast Journalism’s Hall of Fame in 2006. She was honored with an Impact Award for Excellence in Television from the National Hispanic Media Coalition.
“Pacific Clinics is honored to have Ms. Leyva returning as an emcee this year, and to have her as a goodwill ambassador, advocating for mental health services for underserved communities,” an event spokesperson said.
