Pasadena Community Orchestra will present its final, free concert of the season on Friday, May 11, at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Church of the Nazarene.
The concert will feature the orchestra’s Young Artist Competition winner Max Hammond, performing Prokofiev’s celebrated “Piano Concerto #3,” as well as Holst’s “Jupiter” and works by Ippolitov-Ivanov and Borodin.
A light reception will follow the concert.
Each year, PCO holds a competition to identify, assist and feature talented young musicians in the furtherance of their musical career and education. Hammond, 17, has been in the winner’s circle of many piano competitions. He is currently a student in the Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences.
The First Church of the Nazarene is located at 3700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. For more information, call (626) 445-6708 or visit PCO’s website at pcomusic.org.
