The Pasadena Festival of Women Authors had reason to celebrate on Saturday, April 14, as they opened the Pasadena Hilton main ballroom doors to a gathering of more than 500 attendees to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
Seven acclaimed authors gave presentations, four on the main stage and three in breakout sessions. On the main stage were Jessica Shattuck, author of “The Women in the Castle;” Min Jin Lee, author of “Pachinko,” a finalist for the 2017 National Book Award; Hannah Tinti, author of “The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley;” and Christina Baker Kline, author of “A Piece of the World.” Breakout authors were Jade Chang, author of “The Wangs vs. the World;” Charmaine Craig, author of “Miss Burma;” and Natashia Deon, author of “Grace.”
The PFWA supports literary programs in the Pasadena community. Proceeds of the 2017 Festival went to five local literary programs Pasadena City College, Pasadena Public Library, Pasadena Senior Center, PEN Center and WriteGirl.
The committee is already hard at work on the 2019 program, assuring that the literary community remains alive and continues to be engaged.
