For the third consecutive year, local Realtors recently headed to the classrooms and libraries of Pasadena Unified School District elementary schools to read aloud to children during the annual Read Across Pasadena celebration.
Sponsored by the Pasadena Educational Foundation, the event seeks to strengthen connections between the real estate community of the greater Pasadena area and Pasadena Unified schools. Read Across Pasadena salutes National Read Across America Week, the annual event that honors Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. In addition to Realtors, schools hosted readings by local leaders, parents and community members.
“I’m pleased to welcome Realtors to Pasadena Unified schools again this year,” said Superintendent Brian McDonald. “Our growing partnership with Realtors is creating important links for families to discover the vibrant academic programs in our schools.”
Local Realtor Carrie Benuska of Pacific Union International provided continued leadership for the project and is gratified to see increased support from local offices. “As real estate agents representing both buyers and sellers in the greater Pasadena area, it is so important that we are acquainted with our local school systems. Realtors Read Across Pasadena provides an opportunity for agents to not only get on campus but also into the classroom to interact with the kids,” said Benuska. “Every year we have the event, we receive rave reviews from agents who love their experience.” Benuska views that as a win for everyone involved.
Participating offices included Berkshire Hathaway, Coldwell Banker, Keller Williams, Pacific Union Old Town Office, Podley Properties Sierra Madre Office, Podley Properties Pasadena Office, Sotheby’s and Town Square Real Estate.
