‘Share the Love’ Fundraiser on March 2

Local resident Meline Sirouinian, the Berube family and their friends will host “Share the Love,” a fundraiser for the leukemia and lymphoma program at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, on Friday, March 2. The fundraiser is being held in honor of their son, Christopher Berube, a current La Cañada Preparatory student who was treated at CHLA for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2015.
The Share the Love event will once again be held at
Alverno Villa in Sierra Madre, with all proceeds to support the ongoing research in pediatric cancer under the stewardship of Christopher Berube’s oncologist, Dr. Deepa Bhojwani.
CHLA is assisting and coordinating the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma consortium, a collaborative research group with 35 member sites with the mission “to develop innovative therapies for currently incurable forms of childhood leukemia and lymphoma.” TACL is the only consortium in the world dedicated to children with relapsed leukemia and lymphoma. TACL sites work to rapidly develop and conduct phase I/II clinical trials of new drugs that might not otherwise be pursued by pharmaceutical companies because of their complexity or lack of economic incentive.
All proceeds from the silent auction and dinner will go directly to these efforts at CHLA. Tickets are $150 per person and include entry, dinner and drinks. The entire ticket amount is tax deductible.
