Women Networking Raises Scholarship Funds for Vets

Women Networking for Women recently held its third annual fundraiser. The group was founded by six professional women who saw a need to raise funds for women’s charities. The charity selected this year was the Martin Severance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s PCC Women’s Veteran Scholarship Fund. The PCC Scholarship was started three years ago to raise funds for a scholarship to support women veterans returning from duty. When thinking of veterans most people think of men. Women are the shadow veterans and are oftentimes forgotten. Featured guests included Carol Calandra, PCC Veterans’ Center, and scholarship recipients Yingtong Hao (U.S. Army) and Kaytlin Pham (U.S. Navy). Numerous local professionals with a desire to support women veterans attended. The scholarship helps close the gap so veterans are not forced to make the difficult choice between tuition and books or housing and eating. For more information, contact Gail Price (626) 799-7800.
