Adult ‘Playdate’ at Kidspace Children’s Museum

Guests were greeted by steel drums as they arrived at Kidspace Children’s Museum for this year’s annual “Playdate” event. After enjoying a taco bar hosted by Levy Restaurants at Brookside Park and vegetarian options by Bean Sprouts, guests were treated to a look back. CEO Michael Shanklin shined the light on board member Cathie Partridge, who chaired the Junior League committee that identified the need for a children’s museum 40 years ago. Although celebrating 40 years of Kidspace was at the heart of the event, the truth came out as the evening unfolded — it was all about play. With cocktails in hand, smiling guests took off in every direction to explore the museum. They rode adult trikes, participated in drum circles, raced rubber duckies, sang karaoke and took photos in the oversized Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. They were delighted by the juggler who performed in the amphitheater. Things ended on a sweet note as guests grabbed a handful of their favorite candies on the way out. Proceeds support the museum’s annual fund, making all-access programs possible.
