As a sixth-grader, Caroline Lopez entered Westridge School’s gym and hoped to one day see a banner with her name on it. The La Salle varsity girls’ soccer team had to defeat visiting St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano twice to claim the CIF Southern Section Division 4 championship at Kohorst Field last Saturday.
The Lancers edged the Tartans, 4-2, in a penalty kick shootout following a 2-2 tie in regulation and overtime to claim the program’s third CIF plaque in school history.
“It feels so amazing,” said sophomore Celine Akroush. “We’ve worked so hard throughout the season. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we got it. We made it, and we won twice, not once, because of the ref.” Continue reading “Lancers Edge Tartans in PKs”

The La Salle High School varsity girls’ soccer team advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 4 finals following a 1-0 victory over visiting Palm Desert at last Saturday.
The Lancers will host St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano in the CIF-SS Division 4 championship match this Saturday at 5 p.m. The program last competed in a title game in 2007 when La Salle defeated Torrance Bishop Montgomery, 1-0.
