To our valued patients, friends, colleagues, partners and community members:
Are we there yet? I remember my son asking that question when a long car trip seemed endless and he was restless to get free of the constraints of his car seat. From the driver’s seat, I was sympathetic but firm for everyone’s safety. In that sense, COVID-19 has been one long, frightful car ride — a journey that has left many of us forever changed. With a vaccine on the horizon, our destination is now in sight — however, we are most definitely not there yet.

Huntington Hospital’s Response Is All About Teamwork

Our world has changed extraordinarily over the past several months in ways no one could have predicted at the start of 2020, a new decade.
We’ve faced an unprecedented pandemic that has radically changed the way we live our lives and think about our family, friends and society. We’ve seen a worldwide movement against racial injustice in response to the murder of George Floyd and other societal disparities — including those in health care. (To say nothing of the economic disruption, unemployment rate and volatile stock market, all of which carry major, ongoing impacts.) The confluence of these events further underlines the truth that keeping our community safe and close requires each and every one of us to work together. Please know that our board and management are reevaluating our diversity and inclusion programs to be more responsive and robust.

Even as the spread of COVID-19 impacts the health of our community and upends our daily living, we want to assure everyone that Huntington Hospital remains committed to the mission and purpose that has guided us for more than 128 years: to provide excellent health care and compassionate service to each patient entrusted to our care. As it should be, our main focus is caring for our patients and community in this unprecedented health crisis.
Huntington Hospital is doing everything it can to ensure the finest care for all its current and future COVID-19 patients. Our highly skilled medical professionals are following all the right processes and procedures to help protect those most in need. Importantly, we are preserving limited supplies of essential medical resources and taking steps to increase hospital bed capacity for COVID-19 patients. We are also focusing first on those patients most severely and seriously in need right now.

Huntington Hospital Announces Returning Board Members

Huntington Hospital has announced the election of Louise Bryson and Robert Yu to its board of directors. Both have previously served on the hospital’s board.
“The healthcare industry is constantly changing, particularly for nonprofit hospitals,” said Dr. Lori Morgan, president and CEO of Huntington Hospital. “Louise and Robert have brought valuable guidance and expertise to the Huntington Hospital board in the past, and we are extremely grateful they are returning, as we work together to continue to provide high quality, compassionate care to our community.”

Bryson previously served on the Huntington Hospital board of directors from 2011-16. She is chair emerita of the board of trustees of the J. Paul Getty Trust and a founding board member of Southern California Public Radio. She is currently serving on the boards of American Funds, California Community Foundation, Public Policy Institute of California, and California Institute of the Arts. Bryson is a trustee emerita of Pomona College and was inducted into the Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2010 and serves on its board. She was president of distribution for Lifetime Television and executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime Movie Networks until she retired in 2008.

Huntington Hospital Names New President/CEO

Huntington Hospital announced that its board of directors has appointed Dr. Lori Morgan as president and chief executive officer, effective in September. She will replace Stephen Ralph, who announced three months ago his intention to step down from his roles when the new CEO is in place.
Morgan brings nearly 30 years of healthcare and healthcare administration experience with a focus on developing programs that support patient care, strengthening physician relationships and enhancing financial performance. She most recently served eight years as corporate vice president of Legacy Health, Portland’s largest local health system, and as president of Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, the system’s largest hospital.
