The Crescenta Valley High School track team continues to impress this season with its athletes shining at two different meets last weekend.
The biggest victory came from none other than senior Mia Barnett, who won the 3200 at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational. The Virginia-bound standout finished in 10 minutes, 1.18 seconds and was named one of the top two athletes of the meet, the other being Newbury Park’s Colin Sahlman.
Burbank High school erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and got clutch baskets from senior captains Vartan Avetisyan, Elmer Reyes and Kelton Shea in overtime to stun Crescenta Valley 66-63 on the road on Tuesday.
The Falcons had led by as many as 13 at one point, but CV went 3 for 9 from the field in the fourth quarter while Burbank poured in 22 points and added some fantastic interior defense from Shea.
It may have been senior night, but Crescenta Valley High School girls’ basketball head coach Jason Perez still played his entire 16-player roster as the Falcons crushed visiting Burbank High School, doubling the Bulldogs’ point total in a 62-31 blowout.
CV limited Burbank to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters.
