Flintridge Bookstore to Celebrate Indie Day Aug. 27

What is Independent Bookstore Day? It is a one-day national celebration that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on Thursday, Aug. 27. Why celebrate independent bookstores? Independent bookstores, such as Flintridge Bookstore, are not just shops, they’re community centers and local anchors run by passionate readers. They are entire universes of ideas that contain the possibility of real serendipity. They are lively performance spaces and quiet places where aimless perusal is a day well spent.
In a world of tweets and algorithms and digital downloads, bookstores are not a dying anachronism. They are living, breathing organisms, and they are at your service.
Author appearances (including for story time) and Little Muse Designs jewelry will be set up outside in the front of and behind Flintridge Bookstore. It will also be open for in-store shopping. Masks are required.
The bookstore is located at 858 Foothill Blvd., and parking is at the rear.
