Gale Kohl (center), owner of Gale’s Italian restaurant, received a tribute from Pasadena firefighters last week for her philanthropic efforts and support of the city’s Fire Department. Kohl, who provides three meals to local fire stations three times each week, was recognizing firefighters for their efforts during the recent Bobcat Fire and protection of Mt. Wilson. However, firefighters from Station 32 turned the tables on Kohl at the fundraising event and surprised the Pasadena restaurateur by honoring her.

You know, those men and women who risk their lives to save yours and protect your health against fires, medical emergencies and hazards, 24-7.
Well, Daniel Arias, board chair for the Pasadena Fire Foundation, is betting a lot of people will in fact want to support the Pasadena Fire Department and the community outreach it hopes to achieve.
“We really want the foundation to be able to do something really special for the community,” Arias said. “I’d love for it to really be an avenue to engage with the community, to build a bridge between the foundation, the department and the community to work together and raise funds that can be used to support the many programs at the Fire Department that may not be covered in the city’s budget.” Continue reading “Local Fire Foundation Rises From Ashes to Support PFD”
Pasadena firefighters, along with Basecamp Fitness Pasadena and California Pizza Kitchen/Pasadena, recently raised $19,032 during its October “Pasadena Goes Pink” fundraiser, and presented the check to physicians, nurses and administrative staff to support the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center.
