Baffert Denies Allegations Triple Crown Winner Was Intentionally Given PED

Trainer Bob Baffert of La Cañada Flintridge recently denied explosive allegations made in a New York Times story that his horse Justify, who became a Triple Crown champion last year, was intentionally given a performance-enhancing drug called scopolamine.
Baffert’s statement, via Twitter through Justify owner WinStar Farm, was made on Sept. 12. Justify won the Triple Crown in June 2018 and was the 13th horse in the sport’s history to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. LCF Horse Trainer Seeks Triple Crown on Saturday

La Cañada Flintridge resident Bob Baffert (in sunglasses) celebrated in 2015 after American Pharoah won the Belmont Stakes to capture the Triple Crown. If Justify (right) wins the Belmont this Saturday, he will become the 13th race horse to claim the Triple Crown.

La Cañada Flintridge, with its proud history as a horse town, also can justifiably boast about a resident who is among horse racing’s most iconic figures.
If Justify wins at the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9, Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert will only enhance his spectacular legacy; he will have guided two horses in four years to thoroughbred horse racing’s Triple Crown.
American Pharoah (famously misspelled), whom he also trained, completed the difficult trifecta in 2015.

LCF’s Baffert Delivers a 5th Kentucky Derby Win

The world-renowned horse trainer claimed his fifth Kentucky Derby victory Saturday when Justify raced to a convincing 2½-length triumph on a rain-soaked track in Louisville.
