All four of the Glendale Unified School District’s comprehensive high schools rank among the nation’s best, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best High Schools ranking. Each ranked in the top 16% of the more than 24,000 schools that were evaluated.Clark Magnet High was the top GUSD representative, ranking in the top 2% nationally. Crescenta Valley High was in the top 4%, Hoover High ranked among the top 10%, and Glendale High was in the top 16%.
“The highest-ranked schools are those whose students excelled on state tests and performed beyond expectations; participated in and passed a variety of college-level exams; and graduated in high proportions,” according to U.S. News & World Report rankings methodology. Huntington Hospital has been recognized as a 1 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 29th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
Huntington Hospital was named the fifth-best hospital in the Greater Los Angeles area. The hospital was also named 10th overall in California and was ranked among the best in the country in gynecology (No. 33) and urology (No. 16). Adventist Health Glendale has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals for 2018-19, ranking 15th out of the 133 hospitals in the Los Angeles metro area and 28th out of the 414 hospitals in California.
Adventist Health Glendale was also named high performing in three of the 16 specialty care rankings for excellence in orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery and geriatrics, and in three of the nine procedure/condition ratings for top performance in congestive heart failure, colon cancer surgery and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. According to U.S. News & World Report, the purpose of compiling a comprehensive ranking of America’s “Best High Schools” is to pay heed to the importance of secondary education: “Recognizing schools that are performing well and providing them as models to other schools will inspire educators and communities to do better.”
Consider La Cañada High School a role model.
LCHS maintained its status among the best in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking, which measures performance on state-required tests and how well schools prepare students for college. And now, for some good, if not unexpected news: In its annual report ranking American high schools, U.S. News & World Report identified La Cañada High School among the top in its class.
Out of more than 22,000 high schools evaluated nationwide, LCHS came in 147th. In California, LCHS ranked 18th overall and fifth-best among public schools, its best result since at least 2012, according to the publication. Continue reading “LCHS Among State’s Best: U.S. News & World Report”
