The San Marino High School varsity baseball team squandered a two-run lead and fell to visiting Temple City last Friday, 4-2, in a Rio Hondo League contest.
The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held on to that advantage for two more innings. The Rams broke out in the top of the fourth with three runs and added an insurance run in the final frame.
Kade Wentz led San Marino’s offense going 1-for-4 with a double, run scored and run batted in. Grant Spitzer also belted a double and drove in a run, Sean Richardson stole a base and scored, Wheeler Smith also swiped a base, and Dhilan Anvekar, Tommy Long and Maximilian Bradley each singled.
San Marino (1-6 overall record, 0-2 in league) will travel to South Pasadena to take on its rival this Friday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m.
