USC Trojan Affiliates Support Local Nonprofits for Day of SCervice

USC Trojan Affiliates invites the community to participate in the seventh annual All University Day of SCervice on Saturday, March 10. This year’s theme is “Growing Through Adversity.”
Around the world, USC alumni and friends will be participating in various activities to show support for worthwhile causes within their communities. This year, USC Trojan Affiliates will again be participating in two projects in the San Gabriel Valley. They will assemble more than 400 toiletry kits for the clients at Union Station Homeless Services and will do an art/planting project with the young children at Hillsides Home for Children in Pasadena.
The community is welcome to assist at Union Station Homeless Services, located at 412 S. Raymond Ave., or donate toiletry items for the kits they are assembling. Items needed include shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, etc. Volunteers will meet between 9-11 a.m. at the shelter. Coffee and light snacks will be served. For more information, and to volunteer or donate items, please contact USC Trojan Affiliates Day of SCervice Chairman Ann Palmer at acp3rd@gmail.com, call (626) 355-9675, or go online and register at fightonline.usc.edu/scerviceunion.
This year, the children will be potting flowers and herbs at Hillsides Home for Children located at 940 Avenue 64 in Pasadena. Volunteers will meet between 12-4 p.m.
Items needed for the project include potting soil, six-packs of herbs or flowers, and art supplies such as felt, sharpies, markers, buttons and stickers. Refreshments will also be served. All volunteers for the Hillsides project must be at least 18 years of age. For those interested in helping with or donating art or planting supplies for the planting project or food at the Hillsides Home for Children, contact Day of SCervice co-chairs Rosanne and Brianna Berlen at (626) 893-6021 or rosanne@pacunionla.com.
