More than 200 graduates returned to Westridge School for Alumnae Weekend, March 7-9. The two-day affair included a luncheon, coffee reception, book talk, master classes, campus tours and a cocktail reception, dubbed Fiesta Friday and hosted by the 2018-19 Alumnae Board.
As part of its 50th reunion celebration, the class of 1969, represented by Elizabeth Russell and Teri Wilde, presented a check for $100,000 to Head of School Elizabeth McGregor. The class fundraising effort, which took place during the past five years leading up to their 50th reunion, was spearheaded by Sigrid Burton, Russell and Wilde, with generous support from their classmates, particularly as Alumnae Weekend approached. Their aptly named Forever Fund is now an ongoing alumnae initiative to raise endowment funds for financial aid and to ensure that future generations of qualified students have the means to attend Westridge. Earlier in the weekend, members of class of 1969 had afternoon tea with their pen pals from the 4th-grade class of 2027.
Author Terry Gamble, from the class of 1973, kicked off the Saturday morning festivities with a book talk featuring her newest work, “The Eulogist,” a novel set in pre-Civil War Ohio. A noontime luncheon followed, where Pasadena resident and Westridge alumna and trustee Burton was honored with the Mary Lowther Ranney Distinguished Alumna Award.
