Woman Dies After Car Crashes Into Tree

San Marino police continue to investigate a single-vehicle collision that occurred Monday morning and led to a woman’s death.
The 83-year-old victim, whose name was still being withheld Tuesday at The Outlook’s press deadline, was driving an older-model Volvo that collided with a tree near the intersection of Lorain and Windsor roads at around 9:40 a.m. Monday. She died after being transported to Huntington Hospital by first responders.
“It appears that she struck the tree pretty hard,” said Sgt. Rob Cervantes of the San Marino Police Department. “There was nothing to indicate what happened. There were no witnesses.”
Officers called to the scene found the woman trapped inside her vehicle. Responders from the San Marino and Alhambra fire departments helped extricate her from the vehicle, whose front was caved in from the crash.
Cervantes said paramedics
reported that the woman was conscious and speaking with them after they arrived at the scene.
The woman’s identity was being withheld pending notification of her family by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. Cervantes added the woman’s vehicle was registered to a Paso Robles address.
The collision is being investigated by the Pasadena Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Team in cooperation with San Marino police. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SMPD at (626) 300-0720.
