Each summer, Chandler School offers summer programs to public and private schoolchildren in and around Pasadena. Programs this summer ranged from academics to more traditional summer camp activities.
Boys and girls ages 5-14 attending the Summer@Chandler program took enrichment classes to learn more about a subject they were interested in. The enrichment courses are meant to be enjoyable for the students as well as engaging in a classroom setting. The instructors are given a certain amount of freedom to creatively teach their students, with many teaching more than one subject.
The school offered seven one-week sessions with activities such as cooking, sewing, and arts and crafts. Parents could have their kids mix and match, with enrichment classes in the morning, and splitting the day with activities in the afternoon. Campers enjoyed outings, popsicles on hot summer afternoons, water play, dress-up days, and general silliness and goofing around.
The school also offered morning care beginning at 7:15 a.m. and afternoon care going until 6 p.m.
Chandler does its best to accommodate parents’ schedules, and allowed many combinations of programs for the children. Full and half-day program options were available.
