Five Acres celebrated its 30th annual golf classic and dinner recently at a private club in Pasadena with a Scottish-themed “Mad for Plaid Par-Tee.” Since its inception in 1988, the event has raised nearly $4 million to support innovative programs in mental health, special needs education, foster care and adoption. The fundraiser was chaired by longtime Five Acres supporters Rustin Mork and Scott Street and recognized several former golf classic chairs for their steadfast support of children and families in Los Angeles. Renowned author and adoption advocate Jillian Lauren Shriner also spoke and introduced a video spotlighting her family’s experience adopting through Five Acres. The evening raised critical funds to continue Five Acres’ mission to find L.A.’s 20,000 foster children permanent homes by 2020.
