The Pasadena City College Foundation held its annual Holiday Reception recently to show its appreciation to donors and friends. Foundation President Jim Sarni shared that, as a PCC student, he worked at the old Alpha Beta grocery store and reminded guests of the store tag line, “Tell a Friend.” He encouraged the audience to tell the PCC story to friends. The Foundation recently awarded $243,000 in scholarships to 229 students, and guests witnessed an emotional presentation to one special student, David Arias, who was awarded a surprise scholarship that night. PCC President Rajen Vurdien announced that PCC is one of the 10 finalists for the 2017 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
