The Gooden School recently graduated its 8th-grade class of 2017. The school’s 26 students will be heading off in the fall to Arcadia High School, California School of the Arts, Culver Academy, Flintridge Preparatory School, LaSalle High School, Loyola High School, Mayfield Senior School, St. Francis High School and Westridge School for Girls.
The graduation speaker was the Very Rev. Canon Michael Bamberger. Salutatorian Loran Murray and Valedictorian Abby Christopher reminisced about their years at Gooden.
Graduating students Loran Murray, Kate Parry and Gabriel Paz were awarded the Sir Richard of Chichester Award, given to a student or students in recognition of outstanding citizenship and school service.
Awards were also presented to students for excellence in social studies, orchestra, band, mathematics, science, good sportsmanship, physical education, art, drama, English, Latin and Spanish.
