On a recent Saturday evening, the Pasadena Art Alliance held its biennial art auction at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. Artwork donated by 89 Southern California artists was displayed and silently bid on by Art Alliance members and their guests. The festive event was co-chaired by Susan Crawford and Karen Hillenburg.
Proceeds from the auction will fund its grants program and its recently inaugurated Impact Award. Created in 2016 to commemorate the Pasadena Art Alliance’s 60th anniversary, the Impact Award honors excellence in visual contemporary art education that impacts youth. The award is a way for the Art Alliance to further strengthen its support of contemporary art in Los Angeles County by extending the reach beyond college and graduate level programs funded by the Grants program.
At its annual meeting in June, the Art Alliance will give the third Impact Award to My Masterpieces, a program of the Pasadena Educational Foundation that operates within the Pasadena Unified School District to bring arts learning opportunities to all kindergarten- through 6th-grade students.
