The La Salle varsity boys’ golf team defeated Flintridge prep, 205-215, in a nonleague match at the Altadena Golf Course on Monday.
The Lancers look to extend their league title streak to seven consecutive years as they improved to 9-5 on the season, including a 6-4 mark in league play. Flintridge Prep fell to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in league.
Senior William Kinney led La Salle by shooting a 38, junior David Chen carded a 39 and Aiden Conley wasn’t far behind with a 41.
Conley’s best shot came from a 9-iron after watching William hit the same club. He managed to land his shot 1 foot from the hole. As for William’s highlight, it was a chip-in from 16 feet away that went straight into the hole.
Flintridge Prep was led by senior Ben Sacks, who shot a 37, and freshman Marcus Chen (41). Sacks said he felt good about his approach shots, and his highlight was flopping the ball over a tree from 60 yards out and onto the green that landed 7 feet from the hole. He also finished strong with an eagle on the final hole.
Chen had a birdie on the fourth hole after a solid hybrid shot and a curving putt.
Flintridge Prep will take Lynwood Firebaugh today at the Altadena Golf Course.
