Families Forward, formerly Mothers’ Club, recently celebrated a decade of growth and impact of its Family Learning Center, located on North Fair Oaks Avenue in Pasadena. Made possible by a capital campaign begun in 2006, the purchase and renovation of the Learning Center stands as a major milestone in more than 50 years of the organization’s history.
The event was attended by board members, community advisers, community partners and donors who have supported the organization and the capital campaign. The evening included a reception and a short program with remarks from capital campaign chair Judy Wilson, senior design lead John Dale of the architecture firm Harley Ellis Devereaux, and former Executive Director Sue Kujawa, whose 27 years of leadership saw the formalization of Families Forward’s programs and the purchase and renovation of its permanent home.
Families Forward Learning Center prepares families living in isolation and poverty to succeed in school and in life through two-generation learning programs. Families Forward programs consist of high-quality, research-based early childhood education for children, from newborn to age 5, and comprehensive services for parents, including parent education, leadership training, adult literacy, vocational guidance and mental health support.
